Forums and the Like

Batsu Jrock Forums

Batsu is probably one of the largest jrock music forums on the net. There's lots of members to talk to, there's a big fileshare forum as well as other sections to go to for news of upcoming concerts and other jrock-related news.
Pros: Batsu is a big community with lots of different kinds of people. It's easy to make friends. It is a very open community, so feel free to voice opinions.
Cons: It's a little overrun by 'fangirls' who are a bit rabid at times... but it's not so unbearable ^^. The fileshare isn't as great as it used to be. Doesn't offer much as far as indies and/or rare stuff goes...
Linkage:

Tonberry Torrents Tonberry is a great place. Even if you can't use torrents, there's a Direct Downloads section which is full of uploads on server sites. In fact, the Direct Downloads section seems to be more active than the actual torrents!! Feel free to request what you're looking for on there as well.
Pros: You have two different sources on here: the torrents, and the direct downloads. The people are very helpful and nice, and it's easier to find more rare or indies music on here.
Cons: It's got many members already, but still not a very big place. You won't always find what you are looking for. And also, I don't think there's any place to just talk. So if you want to meet new people and make friends, try some place else.

Occult Proposal Forums

This place is just a regular jrock forum, it has a fileshare section, as well as sections to discuss the bands, and theres of course a section for general discussion.
Pros: Since it's just a regular forum, it's easy to navigate and you can talk as well as have a fileshare section available.
Cons: OP is not very fast paced. It doesn't have enough members and needs more people to post. So at times it will seem dead. The fileshare section will seem very bare with no new uploads for awhile and then suddenly someone will feel like uploading a bunch of stuff. So in that respects, it can be unpredictable. But it's still worthwhile to check it out and look at what it has to offer already.

Jpopsuki

If you can't use torrents, go on ahead and skip this one. This site is only for torrents and requests for torrents. No direct downloads. It is also primarily for Jpop. However, Kpop is not uncommon. Some of the more popular jrock bands will be uploaded now and then as well.
Pros: There are many people so recent torrents are easy to download, with lots of seeders. Only much older torrents will have less seeders and take longer. You can find a great variety of jpop and other Japanese music as well. There is also a request section.
Cons: Only for torrents. And there are restrictions for people with low ratios, or uploading to downloading indexes. If you don't make your own torrents and seed them, it can be difficult to get your index up. Even when seeding something after you download. This was the problem I had. The only restrictions however are that you have to wait to download. Depending on your ratio, you must wait a certain amount of hours after a torrent is added in order to download it.

Livejournal Niches

Jrock_uploads
This is a great livejournal community for filesharing. It moves fast, and it's very helpful for finding whatever you're looking for. If you are not signed up for livejournal, I highly suggest doing so. It's a great source of filesharing communities as well as informative communities.

Shame1ess

Another LJ community. It's basically the same type of community as jrock_uploads. Same principles as well. Make sure to comment when taking something, and also check b4 making requests. Try to offer something as a bribe if you're asking for something big.

Red Aki

This another community much like the previous three. However, this
one  is not as active.. It's worth checking into though...

Will continue this later....

Official Sites
Here's links to the official sites of different bands that I happen to have the web addresses for. I know it can be irritating to look for the sites or whatever, so I decided to include a bunch on here...

Where to Buy!
Yesasia.com This site has not just music, but also movies and other Asian goods. There are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese products available to order online. It's a fairly well-known site to shop at for Japanese cd's.
Pros: Yesasia offers free world-wide shipping! It's also in English ^^. They have plenty of more popular artists available.
Cons: It's good for more well-known artists. Not as much available for lesser-known bands. There's also a tendency to only have one thing available from a band (ex: only Nu-Chemical Rhetoric was listed for Merry last time I checked).

CDJapan This site is wonderful and will most likely be constantly draining your wallet. If there's anything in it, that is (Juru needs a job...). It has a pretty good selection for cd's. The site also offers interviews with some of the popular bands, which is very nice.
Pros: Good selection. This site is also very reliable.
Cons: Er... it's a good site so... not much for cons...

Amazon Yes, the ever popular online shopping site for American goods, which is very good for nice prices on the US released cd's along with its 'eligible for free shipping' which is suspiciously on pretty much every item available... uh... I have not really looked at the Japanese site. I would stick to sites primarily in English for myself.
Pros: Obviously reliable, better prices for US releases than other stores.
Cons: I don't spend much time on here so I can't review it to well... It's only on here for the US releases...

Kinokuniya This is a Japanese bookstore with some establishments in big cities, like San Jose and San Francisco. If you are in a big city, check to see if there is one of these stores near you. They have a cd section in the stores.
Pros: You don't have to worry about shipping. It's already there. If you live in a big city that has one of these stores, than it isn't too inconvenient to shop there, or even if you take trips into one of the lucky cities, it could be a stop on your list.
Cons: If you're not in a city, sucks for you. Looks like you will be stuck with online sites. And then, the prices are... extremely high.
Linkage: I'm too lazy to look for any links. Go google it if you're interested.
